This morning Peak 4x4 Response went to full standby in preparation of assisting Derbyshire County Council (DCC) social services in getting overnight staff in to man their 24hr 365days/yr vulnerable persons helpline.
An hour later 2 callouts were made to collect/return staff later this evening due to the impending snow fall and the hilly nature of travel to from the council centres in Matlock & Darley Dale.
Further callouts may be expected as the weather arrives.
Our first callouts and first proper standby.
Response and availability from the team has been excellent.

Matt
Congratulations!
It's a great feeling when you get that first call for real, makes all the hard work worthwhile :D
Not that the hard work stops though

Hi Matt,
As Tony says that first call-out is a great feeling, AND will give you a better "clout" with other Emergency Services in your area. None ever want to be the first to use you but if you get that relationship going the rest follow.

I suppose that we are still on standby for the Ambulance Trust because we haven't been stood down since before Christmas but we are getting no calls
We are getting steady light snow and it is settling but the roads don't seem to bad apart from the heavy rush hour traffic as the children go back to school for the first day after Christmas and they all seem to want a lift rather than walk.

Now had 2 completed callouts and 4 scheduled in for tonight/tomorrow.
Significant snowfall here at 8am today.
All calls are getting staff into the county council social services emergency call centre during the night shift (and back home).

Incident count is now at 10, got another instance of water in the gas mains, National Grid may need vehicle assistance to get vans to the village.

Got the snow! :D It started about 5 minutes after I discovered my flat battery!
Spent all morning in a garage waiting for a battery to cross gridlocked Worcester but am now all fixed and ready to go!
Thanks to wonderful service from Equity Redstar breakdown cover who got to me within an hour and found me a battery because I was an "urgent" case! :D (Couldn't get through to RAC! :? )
