We had a busy night/morning and are up to 21 incidents, 4 still open for tonight and some recoveries to clear roads to get through to tasks.

This morning (Wed 6th) we've ferried 5 people in from Derby/Nottingham areas and 3 from Chesterfield area into the Derbyshire CC call centre, they'd all had to leave their vehicles there overnight so we took them home last night and brought them back in today.

Had assistance from YL team last night. A water main burst had flooded gas pipes in rural Ashover, we supported the gas safety check team getting to outlying properties (think green lanes with 6 inches of snow) and ferrying vans/people/equipment in and out of the 2 areas where they're pumping the system dry.

The access to the village is from the bottom of Slack Hill nr Matlock if anyone knows it - notoriously steep terrain.

Expecting a quieter day but some jobs tonight.

Great work - though I'm now getting worried - people are beginning to found our group

After a quiet weekend with some call-outs stood-down soon after initiation we have one now for tomorrow - taking food/provisions to a remote hamlet. The council are talking about getting a snow blower as a mid-term solution in as our team member who did the task last week reported 'vehicle height' drifts!

Had a further callout from the police at 0115 this morning, family with children taken a wrong turn down a green lane and got very stuck in blizzard conditions with deep drifting snow. Recovered the family back to the police vehicles. Almost turned into a call for Mountain Rescue (of which we have half a dozen teams round here). All finished by about 0400.

Road conditions are now very icy after last nights freezing rain, many roads in my opinion would only be suitable with chains or studs, even in the urban and suburban areas.
