I know we are not as it's a tad out of our way.....however....
We (4x4RNE) do regularly have a stand at the 4x4 shows both in the North East and further south in the bigger shows....and we and other clubs have in the past run a stand on behalf of the National Network with aview to promote all teams (you'd be surprised how many people aproached me at Driffield asking for information on teams in the south....) If any team in the vacinity of this show would like to do likewise.....I would suggest that you ask permission to do so from the Trustees, this would ensure that only one application is tendered for a N4x4RN pitch, you could also ask for help from other teams to assit in manning it.
You can of course still seek a stand for your own team as well.... http://www.4x4response.info/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_e_biggrin.gif
These shows are a very good place to start raising the profile of new teams.

It is also worth noting that there are some non 4x4 specific events , where probabaly it would not be worth the time to have a whole stand that some of us may attend with our corporate stands, I am thinking for example the TruckFests, massive shows and normally have a fair few 4x4 owners attending, county and farm shows would be another, I know my colleagues on Farmers Weekly attend far more shows than we do on the Road transport side.
As we tend to be partners/sponsors we are quite restricted in what we are allowed to do on our stands, but I am sure I a pile of leaflets were accidently left where the public could pick one up it would not be seen as a hanging offence

The indoor show is a good one to target as it is one of the few "all makes" shows, i.e. not a Land Rover show and yes I know that 90% of us do drive Solihul's finest but there is a large untapped market out there that you simply can't target via the Land Rover events.
When it was at Donington it was a bit of a hike for us for a one day event but Bingley Hall is even further http://www.4x4response.info/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif

Well it's in my area (West Midlands) but as we've only had two meetings so far, we've barely got a membership list - we certainly aren't set up to do a stand yet.
EDIT : At least not without a lot of help!!

And annoyingly, I've just checked my calendar and the wife is away that weekend so I have the kids. Â*Makes it difficult (but not necessarily impossible) for me to volunteer.

Be a shame to miss such a good opertunity....especially for the newer teams....
......and if a few local teams could get together and cobble up a stand.....it would be a good logistic/communication exercise too!
Tim, are the kids old enough to hand out leaflets? The YL kids did a fantastic job last year at Driffield!!!!

Kids are 6 and 9 - hence the problem - can't be left 'unmanned' for more than a couple of seconds http://www.4x4response.info/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_e_wink.gif
In case this happens, just had an idea from my days doing radio rallies.....get a CB rig going and use it for 'talk in' as most 4x4 peeps will have one and be listening on the drive to the show.
Maybe do the same with ham gear and get a better class of memberÂ* http://www.4x4response.info/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen.gif

We did quite a few summer shows last year at short notice - just need some vehicles, some basic info leaflets to give out and some people willing to get talking to whoever's passing by.
Some pics here of the sort of thing we had ... http://s171.photobucket.com/albums/u289/Teresanahajski/Herefordshire%20summer/?albumview=slideshow
Would you be able to have vehicles on the stand to show a range from soft roader up to more extreme?
Might be able to get a West Mids/Wales/Herefordshire display put together?
Try contacting Kev or Mark from Wales or some of the new North Wales team to see if they'd be interested in helping and providing some of their material.
I could get some stuff from our group and would be happy to help out on the day.
Even on your own, you've got a couple of months to get some ideas together and just treat it as a recruitment drive.
------------------------------------------------------
Just re-read the ad and realised if on a balcony, not likely to be able to use vehicles! But you could get some photos of member's vehicles and do a display board and just give out info on membership. Easy! Happy to help in exchange for a free ticket! http://www.4x4response.info/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif

No chance of a vehicle - it's indoor and I think it said 3m wide by about 3-4m deep. Â*Specifically states no room for a vehicle!
from http://www.britishindoor4x4show.com/clubstand.html
Terms and Conditions: Stands are available on a strictly first come first served basis. Stands are space only, and you must bring any furniture, tables, display boards etc that you require. Stands do not have an electrical supply. Stands are 3m wide and between 3m and 4m deep so are unable to fit a vehicle. Free club stands are only to be used for promoting clubs and societies and for marketing and selling memberships. Absolutely no other goods are to be sold on free club stands. Only recognised clubs with appropriate membership criteria will be accepted. The organisers have the right to refuse acceptance of any bookings. Those working on the stand must purchase tickets to the show, exhibitor passes will not be granted for free club stands. Confirmed clubs will be sent all the appropriate information on exhibiting at the show including safety procedure, set-up times and rules and regulations. Confirmed clubs will also receive a free 'profile page' on the British Indoor 4x4 Show website. We recommend that you staff your club stand with at least 2 people at all times.

Have a think about it and talk to your members - see if they have any suggestions. But it's a good time for recruitment with all the latest press interest - you will just have to decide if you've got enough in place yet to offer new members, whether you can organise your own training or will be doing it through another route, e.g. Wales!
I think it's a good opportunity - but if not this one, there'll be others once you've got a bit more sorted.
Did you go to Llanerchindda today?

We have a stand booked....
If any team can't make it we would be more than willing to give out flyers on behalf of your team.
If you PM/email me I will send my address for them to be posted to

Thanks Chris, I'll speak to the other trustees and see if we can come up with some thing "national" that can be used at this and other shows.

I'll be able to confirm for absolute sure nearer to the date but am pretty certain I can make this one.
Is someone willing to act as central contact and book the stand?
We already have a couple of 4'x3' National logo signs and I've been thinking a 5 or 6ft tall national map would be a really good think to have with all the covered areas shown with their relavant team logos alongside with an arrow - I'm sure people can envisage what I'm meaning. This can then do the rounds of the other major 4x4 shows along with any other bits and pieces like leaflets for different groups etc.

sounds like a good reason for the few of you to get some ideas together. i'm sure some of us on here would bring our vehicles and show stuff to help you out.

Looks like Chris C has already done so.
Chris - are you willing to share the stand as a national one, or do we need to try to get another one (next to you preferably) for the national/all other groups?
I think it would be a good idea to have a general national presence, with the local groups attending to do a bit more focussed publicity.

I would advise trying to get a second stand if you can man one and ask for for them to be situated together.....helps in clearly promoting...the local team(s) locally, the local teams nationaly and the national. Also the more people you can have available to man one or other stand...the more time you can find to visit other stands and do the intro and hand shake bit.....you never know, you may just find some "consessions or donations" doing so!

Something I've been asking for, for some time now Simon......but I think the larger size would be too much for folks to haul about.....4x3' would be more like it....if you take a look at my LRO show thread, I've mentioned that this could be placed on a flyer, same principle, just smaller... http://www.4x4response.info/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

Â*At the risk of starting more politics, a couple of points. Â*If these aren't relavent or are too cynical please disregard (rather than start a flame war)
I don't think West Mids is in a position to do a stand in its own right, but this is what I would have done http://www.4x4response.info/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_e_wink.gif
I was thinking of a National themed stand, but highlighting and plugging the local groups as that's where the membership/organisation/actual work is. Â*Of course, ALL groups would be plugged.
Sort of "4x4 Response is a National project run through local groups.Â* We represent the local West Mids group, but as you've come a long way to the show I think you'll find your local group is ******** and here are the details"
This would still apply who ever was actually on the stand (though of course you wouldn't be West Mids)
I would be really miffed and disappointed if a group had a stand and only plugged their own group, not the National or other local groups - especially if it wasn't even the group local to the event. Â*Hopefully, that isn't what anybody intends, but the talk of getting 'another stand at the side' worried me.
Of course, if you can blag two stands because one is National and the other group based then, of course, this is a good thing as you get twice the space.
Teressa - I didn't go to Wales. Â*Last minute issues (mostly being really tired and a 'big week ahead') - can't share details on here.

We have booked a joint stand with our Forum but there are plenty of spaces left on the list. So far RT Wales also have a stand booked according to the website http://www.britishindoor4x4show.com/clubs.html
The stands are not that big so if we could get a national stand next to us or near us we will be able to put a couple of team members on the stand to support.

Maybe Wales would be willing to share a stand with West Midlands as they share some of the areas i.e. Shropshire. Could be a way of promoting both teams.
Probably best if Tim (WM), Kev (Wales) and Andy (North Wales) talk to each other.

Sort of "4x4 Response is a National project run through local groups.
But that's at the very least 'bending' the truth ain't it?
Shouldn't we be open and honest with prospective members right from the outset?

What is a 4x4 Response team?
Teams of volunteers prepared to use their own vehicles and give up their time exist throughout the country to provide logistic assistance to Category one and two responders; as defined in the Civil Contingencies Act; and other Voluntary agencies, normally via the Local Resilllience forums. Together these teams form the National 4x4 Response Network. Is probably a good honest starting point.
