As Simon has already posted a show thread......
I did take a look for details on this show, but although the website has been updated they, when I last looked, where providing last years booking form to download....This time in 2009 I already had it booked!
Last year YL and NE both had stands and I also aquired one for the National......I did not get any help staffing this outside NE!
NE will be applying again this year and I'm assuming YL will also......I am more than happy to again apply on behalf of the Nat (they may well send me a booking form yet, they usually follow up each year) unless soemone has already done so...
I feel it important that the Nat has a seperate stand from local teams at shows, as it can then promote for the benefit of all teams who cannot attend.....as last year I would ask for members of non attending teams to help man the stand.
Last year I did not recieve any information from other teams, ie flyers etc.....it will also be usefull (has been mentioned elswhere) to have Nat info available.....I suggest that a flyer or similar with a UK Map defining the regions that the teams cover together with alist of teams with a weblink to access details of same on this site. The flyer can also include reference to our benefactors.......
By preference I would like to see the above produced as a downloadable file available to all groups.....
Can someone let me know please if it has already been booked otherwise as show booking is one of the tasks I have sceduled for next week...
Nigel.

You're not thinking of co-locating again this year then?
nigel leyland
24-01-2010, 04:18 PM
If it's possible John yes......much easier to direct an enquiry "next door" rather than across the show ground....
Having you're selves on the next pitch, is handy to say the least, and I would be looking at arriving early again myself to ensure we do get plenty of room (amazing what you can get done before they mark the piches out) but I would have liked members from other clubs taking the up the offer to attend.....maybe this year the NW team or even the new Scotish teams may like to have a rep on site.
One thing we should probably do is sort out the daily arena parade better....we (RNE) were remiss last year.... possibly put one person in charge for all teams?....but more on that at the show.

Glad you posted that nigel. I was going to be asking both you and YL about co-locating our groups together as I have a club form that will be getting sent back this week. Thought if we were all together then we've basically get the north of England represented.

Good to hear that you've decided to apply Dave, put a note on your form asking to be located with the other "response" groups if possible please.....they're quite good at accomodating if they can, and as I get there as early as I can if there is a problem it's much easier to cajole someone into shuffling things before anyone else arrives and sets up! http://www.4x4response.info/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_e_biggrin.gif

What size pitch are you going for?
nigel leyland
24-01-2010, 06:18 PM
I always apply for the biggest available....reasoning being.....
A. I can use the biggest they have no problem.
B. If there isn't one available they'll offer a smaller one which will just have to do.
C. If you ask for a small one that's all you will get!
Usuall evening BBQ will apply at the RNE pitch.....all welcome. http://www.4x4response.info/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Nigel - we've started things moving on some leaflets - I aim to have them available for the in door show so Driffield is no problem.
As far as I am aware no one from National or YL has applied for a stand on behalf of National so if you are prepare to do that that would be great - or I can do it if you like. I'm going to be there this year (the aim is to have 1 trustee at each big National show but we'll see how that pans out as the year progresses) and will start badgering some of the other localish grouops very soon.

Thanks for the reply Simon, just the information I required, I'll apply for a National stand at Driffield, because...
A. This will take one small task off your hands, and I'll also source manpower from ALL willing groups.
B. I'll be there before anyone else and will have the tickets with me and be able to ensure as much as possible we (the attending teams recieve the optimum pitches)
C. They may already have a form in the post as I booked last year...
News on the flyers is most welcome, I would also urge all teams to make promotional materials available for use at all stands this season.....it really is embarassing not to be able to provide when requested!

After not recieving a conformation email I phone Live Promotions, and subsiquebtly emailed them.....and eventually (not due to LP but poor email service) have now recieved conformation... http://www.4x4response.info/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_e_biggrin.gif
So there are besides me 5 places for the taking (2 adults + motor + tent/van).....
Can any response team member who wishes to attend and man the stand on behalf of the National4x4ResponseNetwork and any none attending teams, please let me know....any unused places I'll man from the RNE team.
Simon, are you on this stand or YL's?
Nigel.
John Potts

Simon has said that he's manning the National Stand.
We'll have plenty of members there, but we're making it a more social weekend than outright recruiting and fundraising. Having said that, I would be prepared to donate a couple of hours and my other half would too.
nigel leyland
11-02-2010, 06:37 PM
Thanks for confirming Simons intention John,
....are you saying you are attending with YL but would be happy to help for a few hour if required John...?
Nigel.
John Potts
11-02-2010, 10:00 PM
Aye Nige, I'll help out for a couple of hours (I'm sure Becky will too)

11-02-2010, 10:39 PM
Thanks John...I think we should be able to get enough to cover, just want to let other groups the chance to have a rep in attendance. http://www.4x4response.info/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_e_biggrin.gif
So 4 tickets left....

Nigel,
That's a little confusing. Do you mean you would like us to do some time on the National Stand? And does that mean we will get National Tickets? (I ask because I can give ours back to YL if so?)
nigel leyland
23-02-2010, 08:15 PM
I'm trying to allocate tickets to teams who will not be attending, so their members can work the National stand if they wish to........however if the offer is not taken up, then I can man solely from RNE if needs be but if you would like help out on the national stand rather than YL, more than happy to have you and Becky John. Doing so will I assume vacate a place for more YL members to attend on their own stand;)
Just let me know which stand you wish to be on John.
Nigel.
John Potts

We're not running a Recruiting Stand as such Nigel. Our presence is more of a Social thing this year.
That's why I've offered, to be honest it'll give us something constructive to do. We would appreciate the tickets though as we have a lot of members wanting to go and it would spread the YL ones further.

Given the proximity to event I'll be staffing the remaining places with NE members.....I'll be arriving at the show early as usuall (probably Thursday) and try my best to ensure we get all groups together in one spot with plenty of camping room.....Tickets should be arriving soonish!

15-04-2010, 10:43 AM
If anyone has pins and tape available to "cordon off" our camping area it would be usefull as it's common for other groups to "grab" as much as they can and may leave us short on room.....pety I know but that's they way it is!
See you all there...
Nigel.
John Potts
15-04-2010, 09:25 PM
Will do my best matey - might be short of pins or posts, but I can likely find some mine tape.
nigel leyland

mine tape is good, that tends to keep Ex Mil clubs out!!!!
....I'm hoping one of our lads can sort some pins.....

19-04-2010, 03:40 PM
I neglected to mention I have done so John....
I do Believe Simon was working on the Nat Flyers, but ask as I may local groups never seem to come forth with any info they would like to make available.

I've got a roll of mine tape but, as I thought, nothing like stakes or posts to hold it - I think the YL lads will be bringing some though as I donated a load of trip flare stakes for holding boards up and they should be in with the show kit. I just don't know when they'll turn up though.

Tickets arrived today......slight confusion, 3 vehicle passess mark e12 and 3 marked e17!!!
perusing the accompanying map, it would appear that e12 is within the "general trade" area, while e17 appears to be in the club section...
ergo I'm assuming we are actually on stand e17....(my deductive reasoning is flawless...ish) .....however from passed show experience the location indicated is no guarantee of placement!!!!
do YL or NW have a stand number yet?
Nigel.
Dave White
27-04-2010, 12:36 PM
E19 apparently... sort of fits in with your thoughts.
dave-freeman
27-04-2010, 02:07 PM
According to our tickets we're on E15. Nigel is that for NE or for the national stand? So who's going to be in between us then? Looking at these posts then;
NW E15
NE or National E17
YL E19

I have the tickets for the nat, I've not heard from Diane yet, she has NE's tickets so hopefully its E16 or E 18 (If so and I can get there in time i may be able to ask for a shunt/swap).......so looking at the map we should have pleny of camping room to the rear as long as we can keep others off it...LOL
John, not a problem......It now looks like I'll be arriving later than expected (I was hoping to be there on Thursday) probably around noon on Friday if all goes to plan.

Always good at the first show of the year catching up on old frienships and forming new ones.......despite the weather, it was a good show.
I believe Y&L may have managed to gain a member or two, I defo sent some inquirers over, we had a reasonable bit of interest and I had requests for info for the Buxton team too amongst others .....unfortunately no one ever answers my requests for group info from around the country and I have had to give them an RNE flyer and ask them to use our link to the Nat site to access the list of websites for info.....possibly too long winded a process to be productive, and not exactly a professional approach!
I managed to miss a great deal of the activities over the weekend, especially in the arena, but I have been reliably informed that in addition to the daily parade, we made a good show of the twist off and someone called Dave is now the Interclub Challange World Champion!:D
Thouroughly enjoyed myself but it's going to take me a month to recover!

I was kinda disappointed there was nothing for it to be honest. Even a T shirt would've been good. Have to say I used to drive a disco anyway so know how they go. It doesn't say much about the vehicle prep if they couldn't be arsed adjusting the lockstops though.

I'm surprised 'cos they were waving T Shirts about as prizes on Saturday?
