This is what Graeme at the Met Office has to say
The cold air is now starting to dig in and northerly winds will freshen as we go through the day bringing some showers, mainly but not exclusively to Norfolk and Suffolk. These will turn increasingly to snow as the day goes on and now we're seeing the whites of their eyes, these showers are looking more potent than they did in previous forecasts. They could form in lines and end up giving some prolonged snow in places. The remains a degree of uncertainty in how the shower regime will develop but advisories are about to be issued and the attached map gives an indication of the amounts which could build up between this afternoon and 0600 on Saturday morning.
Broadly speaking:
Beds and Herts should not see any significant snow being well sheltered from these showers. There may be a few flurries tomorrow but nothing significant or disruptive;
Parts of Cambs and Essex could see localised 2 to 4 cm (but many places seeing next to nothing);
Norfolk and Suffolk though could see between 3 and 6cm in places with a low risk of up to 12cm. Even in Norfolk and Suffolk though the worst falls should be very localised depending on how the showers line up as they come in off the North Sea on the northerly wind but clearly some areas could have some problems during the evening/overnight period. I suggest watching the radar images at http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/ through the day. The showers are expected to persist through the night and the same areas will maintain a risk of further snow showers through Saturday and Sunday although as the wind changes to a more northwesterly direction the area affected may become smaller and more confined to Norfolk and northeast Suffolk or, with a bit of luck, keep them offshore altogether.
Everywhere will be cold with widespread frosts overnight through the weekend. Monday should bring some respite to all parts but then we need to turn to the west and keep an eye on a frontal system coming in from that direction during Tuesday.

We also have some quite high tides due over the next few days but the wind appears to be veering more westerly so I don't think they will pose any problems.
