0945 20th feb - callout from Derbyshire police to assist recovering elderly couple in vehicle that has left the road in the Goyt Valley. Driver reported severe road icing after overnight snow. Vehicle eventually recovered by Peak National Park Ranger service as we were organising attendees.

1545 20th feb - callout from Derbyshire Police to RTA in Goyt Valley (only 1/4 mile from previous incident), Police vehicles unable to reach scene due to ice. Vehicle was blocking road but no injuries.

3 members attended, but had to assist with recovering 11+ vehicles before reaching the scene, all unable to move due to ice/snow.

At the scene (Errwood Reservoir), we bumped into Powys 4x4 Response who were also removing stuck vehicles.

Stood down for the original recovery as the AA managed to reach the vehicle involved in the original RTA.

Quite a major incident in the end!

Powys 4x4 Response?

Surely you mean Wales 4x4 Response?

Whatever I think they need some navigation lessons :D

I wasn't on the call myself (in fact I NEVER get to go out always stuck in control ;) ) but my guys on the ground said the 'others' identified themselves as Powys 4x4 Response....

I wonder if anyone from Wales 4x4 Response can add to this? My guess is that because the border with Cheshire was about 200m away and given Wales (Powys) borders with Cheshire - they may have been called by Cheshire police but this is only supposition on my part.

Yorks-Lincs and NW both had people down in the Peaks on Sunday but we were all a lot further east as far as I know (YL certainly were) NW may have gone back that way from Pindale where we last saw then I suppose.

Recreationally but arranged to meet up to pass NWs jackets over.

Matt

Wales did start as Powys, so I suspect they just haven't got out of the habit of calling themselves that!
