21st Feb, further major snowfall overnight in Yorkshire & Derbyshire caught everyone by surprise as we had a sudden 2 to 4 inches between 0600 and 0800.
2 tasks for social services out of hours team, assisted getting people and their vehicles "the last mile" between home and clear or clearing roads. 1 x further similar task tonight due to shift work and positioning of vehicles.
Standby from PCT for district nurse and out of hours doctors service but stood down as snow began to melt and individuals involved assessed their local conditions.
useful feedback - by asking user service end users (the actual nurses, social workers etc) on the ground to assess their conditions and to consider alternatives we're finding that people are confident in trying to help themselves with our oversight/assistance giving them confidence that if stuck they'll get help immediately. We 'shadowed' people in their own vehicles, leaving them at a strategic location for their return journey the following day. this is quite important for 24hr control room and centre staff as their shift patterns and the continuous backwards and forwards coupled with vehicles being at the 'wrong end' of journeys can start to stretch our resources very quickly.
Lot's of positive feedback from user services.
