Have any of our teams been involved in this?:-

It says "Civil volunteers in 4x4s were sent to provide food and drinks to stranded motorists"
Earlier reports said (and I paraphrase), "the police had called upon members of the public with 4x4s to assist"

"Civil Volunteers in 4x4s" certainly sounds like us, it's the right area for COTAG 4x4 Response, who are the longest established group in Scotland.

I would think Cotag are a little busy at the moment, down in Edinburgh we had a lot of snow earlier in the week, then a lot of rain yesterday took most of it away, but the good news is its back tonight.
Lothians have been in communication with various bodies arround the area, whilst we have had a very favourable response, we need as a group to get a few things in place in order to be acceptable to some bodies.

It was actually civil defence scotland, who have just contacted me showing interest in a joint venture which is great news as they already have charity status, offers of training etc. already in place

Interesting, it's amazing what groups tend to crop up that we have never even heard of!
Certainly sounds like it could be worth following up.
