Good to meet all the guys this weekend.

Obviously thanks goes out to all the people (and the Land Cruiser) in the photograph, without them I would have been wading in mud!!

Those ruts caught me out too - definitely getting mud tyres before next time! Went on the red route and needed dragging up one incline as my worn A/Ts weren't co-operating.

A good weekend - I spent today (in order):

Getting the generator started so the tea urn would function. We don't work as well without hot drinks.

Driving an Argocat that a group member brought along (great fun, once the brakes had been adjusted so it would turn left as well as right).

Leading two Red Cross personnel around a forest drive (mix of Cat 1 forest track and a few off road sections), they went away happy having had a play with their new Defender 110. I think we've made a good link there, as they didn't get lost or break their vehicle! Previously they were given off road instruction on the basic course. One of them was a complete novice but was trundling around the trials course with no problems.

Forgot to add, we also had a visit from the Powys CC EPO (or a representative thereof) on Saturday. He seemed impressed with what we could do and had some welcome news regarding arrangements for calling us out. Powys will now have something similar to SMS Responder where we will be contacted by SMS or email for standby, then register availability on a secure website.

Just thought I'd add a couple of photos taken by a member - first the base camp area:

and the Red Cross Defender, which was rather less shiny by the time they left!

Yes my Landcruiser, no it's not stuck. It never gets stuck, just gets "delayed" some times
