Is anybody able to assist a Treadlightly! initiative in North Yorks at the coming weekend:

North Yorks Project 11-12 September

Scarborough & District 4x4 Club have organised a green lane repair day on 11th and 12th September 2010 at Cowgate Rigg OS SE 96735 - 962333 to SE 97045 – 98078

This will be done as a joint venture of the club, NYCC, YDNP and Treadlightly!.
Aim is to lay approx 100 tonne of hardcore and 60 tonne of planings in the two days if possible. NYCC have provisionally agreed to pay for haulage of the hardcore.

Any volunteers are welcome and any that want to camp overnight will be provided with free a site to pitch tents or put caravans and the club will be putting on a barbeque on the night of the 11th.

Any help would be appreciated although I know it’s very short notice but this is due to the planings being used by the locals in vast amounts.

The “Voluntary Restraint” scheme is now in full swing, again supported by NYCC, YDNP and the Police as well as a few landowners.

From the Disco owners club forum..

hi, just to top it off its been CANCELLED tonight due to NYCC trying to impose a permanant TRO whilst comitting themselves to helping to repair the byway.

I understand the whole point of the exercise was to prevent the need for NYCC to go ahead with a permanent TRO, I believe the reason for cancelling was that NYCC could not provide third party liability insurance as had originally been presumed.

The TreadLightly Trust are in the process of getting their own policy but this has yet to set up. An attempt to see if this could be run under the policy held by GLASS was unsuccessful due to the lack of time involved.

So it is Cancelled then, or at least on hold.....
