Units from Wessex 4x4 Response took part in Exercise Manx, the Somerset County Local Authorities Civil Contingencies Unit annual Rest Centre Exercise.
Although this event was primarily designed to test the INTERNAL operation of the rest centre we took the opportunity to test and demonstrate that our communications etc were up to the task.
We did have a couple of "Safeguard" missions, to collect staff etc. from offices and home addresses.
The use of a support unit to accomodate our members between shouts and maintain communications between mobiles and our liaison officer in the hall brought one or two favourable comments; especially from senior council officials who were supplied with coffee.
