Well there's always next year Jamie and I'm sure we'll find something for you to do before the winter is out..... :D

I was phoned by the organisers today, asking for feedback on the event witha view to future improvements, here's a link to there website for details of the actual amount raised, somewhat impressive I'm sure you'll agree.

Yeah you did, but don't mention bacon butties! All cold and tired waiting for someone to get something from his truck when the aforementioned smug skinhead someone came back, half a pig in hand  took us bleedin ages to get our mitts on some

We or rather Diane has just recieved an email requesting or help again this year with the midnight walk.......below is an extract from the email...

"...........It’s so reassuring to know you are behind our big events – the 4x4 RNE team were outstanding last year, we simply couldn’t have done our first ever midnight event without them!! Walkers, Marshalls and St Oswald’s staff & volunteers refer to them as our Midnight Miracle!! Please thank them again on our behalf. We are truly grateful........."

It is being run somewhat earlier than last year and now we know the format, route and requirements I'm confident that we can do an event better job than last year. I also sspect that due to it being in July and a repeat event there may well be even more entrants.

I was right, not only did the whole event run so smooth it was almost unbelievable, but 1200 walkers raised £115,000 (preliminary total)for the hospice..........and the weather played the game too!

I can't imagine how it could have been nay better....well maybe even more money.

the only improvment that could be made for next time would be to have the St. Oswalds volunteers on either PMR's or hand held CB's, there was a little bit of confusion at one point as to where abouts the last 2 walkers were, but apart from that all went very smoothley, a great event!

They did have PMR, but didn't need to use it even once........as for the last two walkers, they never left my sight untill I had handed them over to the tail end marshals.... :D

Thanks to our publicity officer Sarah.............we got a small mention in LRM (Sept 09) at the top of page 182.

Ok we didn't get a two page spread like 4x4RW, but I'll be pionting that out to Sarah....LOL

Do you think if we all keep sending bits of info to LRM they might let us have our own section! :D

They seem happy enough to accept articles and photos. Don't think I'll be packing in my day job to become a writer yet though - I didn't even get a free copy of the mag.

LRM dont offer payment.

LRO on the other hand do often pay for full articles. Maybe you should try sending stuff to them?

Might try that for Herefordshire Group some time. Wales Group have received some sponsorship from LRM for our hi vis vests, that's why we've been using them so much.

It's good just to see it in print though, wherever it is. Although I don't know if any of Wales group have read it yet as there's only a couple seem to come on here.

Even the small press release in the latest LRM, resulted in a new member for us.......so it's well worth sending the articles in regardless of size, to whatever press may be interested.

The more "exposure" any of the teams get the better all round, so having an active press/media rep in the team is a absolute must!:D

Please let us know if any mags actually pay anyone for articles.....as well make the extra effort to swell our funding :D
