No details up for next year yet but heres the stuff from last year for those that don't know it.
http://www.lroshow.com/SPRINGADVENTURE/index.html
Its always the 2nd weekend in May so I think its fair to assume that it will be Sat/Sun 9/10th May 2009.
Last year HY and NE were next to each other (by request) but we didn't do anything tof orm a joint stand. If we can get 1 or 2 other groups to attend perhaps and have a National presence too (I'm sure HY will be able to provide extra vehicles and bodys with it being right on our back doorstep) we could have a really big impressive stand jointly.
Would any other groups be interested, North West, Peak, Norfolk, Northamptonshire probably being the nearest?

It might be a good idea to see if between now and then we can develop some national handouts and standard display material so that at any events teams can promote themselves and the national network -- especially at the bigger shows where people will come from some distance. Obviously at local shows the bias would be towards the local team(s).

The ones I did for HY for this years Driffield (and since) were double sided, one side HY other National.
Tried to attach it but PDF's are not allowed - could this be changed please as PDFs are probably the most useful and functional attavchments we can use.

looks good. An excellent model for all teams.
We (Wessex) are in the process of rewriting our "trifold" leaflet which is now looking very dated.

I remember seeing the flyers at drifield, I was on the 4x4rne stand next to humber yorks, in the green 110 hard top :D
hope to be there next year as well :D :D

Regarding those flyers, would it be ok for us to use an adapted version in Powys/Wales? We need to design some and there's a good deal of sense in adapting an existing one.

Absolutely knock yourselves out - I can send you the text in a word doc if that helps - PM me with an email address if you'd like it that way.

Hi Simon, thanks, should be able to grab it from the PDF with a bit of prodding but may well be emailing if that fails!

Hi all,
Simon has kindly passed this thread to me as i organise the shows and events for HY4x4.
First of all i have sent all our forms off to Live promotions and am awaiting confirmation of event.
I would be happy to organise our part of the event along the 4x4 network but feel we need to advise Becca at Live promotions that we all need our own pitches as i we go as one group we will be limited on the pitch.
Saying that it maybe prudent in having all the stands in one area IE next to each other for maximum impact.

We managed to get both stands together last year simply by asking...so I don't see any problem with that.
You are however correct in mentioning the limited space we would have available.
Therefore I think we should........
Apply for our individual pitches as normal and "man" as usual......
in addition we need to apply for a National pitch which could be manned by any Response Members interested in doing so.....
I'm sure RNE could muster a bit of man power and no doubt HY could do like wise.....If the team from the P/Bro show can attend so much the better.....
So Who is going to apply for the National pitch?...I can do this provided I'm not treading on anyones toes/someone has already done/doing it........just let me know... :D
Nigel.

Nigel from my point of view go ahead, just let us know what you need in the way of "National" material
nigel leyland
13-12-2008, 01:09 PM
Any files available that can be sent emailed to me which have been used previously at other shows would be a good start........I can get started on printing things out at work :D
Also I know people view Driffield as a regional event, but we do get people aproaching the stands from all over the country...so if any groups which to send me flyers etc which could be handed out or used on display boards that would be most welcome.
If anyone from further afield would like to man the stand just post here and find youa job :D
What I would like if it's available is information on next years annual event.......well worth advertising early... :D
I'll post more as I think of it.....suggestions welcome as always... :D

Just post one in the letterbox Si........... :D
I've delegated NE stand organisation to Dave (we used his van the last two years) which leaves me free to organise the NRN, I'm hoping HY can muster a few extra bodies and we can work it between us.........
I'll post updates here.....so anyone intrested in helping out just let me know...

Can anyone confirm that HY4x4R has recieved confirmation of a show pitch at Driffield?
I have recieved confirmation for the N4x4NR pitch but 4x4RNE have not as yet and it has come to light that Live Promotions are claiming to be over booked, but can sort a pitch if you are willing to pay!
If you have not yet had a confiramtion email then it may be prudent to chase it up asap......
If the worse comes to the worse we could represent both local and the national on one pitch but it would be a bit cramped!

I have been chasing them for about 3-4 weeks but not heard anything, however one of our members knows Becca quite well so was going to chase.
The interest we have from our own group will no doubt fill our bit so i don't think there will be a option unless they have really booked up to share but i think we need to wait and see..
I will post on here as soon as i know more.

Thanks for the prompt reply Rob, I recieved my conformation email on Dec 19th 08, so it may be that I got in early......and demand has since escalated so much that they are trying to get some clubs to pay.......we shall see what happens.

This is sadly a common feature of shows this year.
It seems to be as a result of organisers realising that Clubs bringing in large numbers of members as "helpers" for free is cutting into their profits.
Most organisers seem unable (or unwilling) to differentiate between normal Clubs and "not for profit organisations" such as Response Groups, GLASS, CRAG etc who need large numbers of members to promote their messages.

This has always been the way Live do it. They alocate x tickets per club, then charge for the rest.
Live are a normal profit making company & will charge for whatever they think they can. LRO are just a brand that Live use. You can usually get a decent deal from them if you try, but as I said they dont do it for the love.

We could use some National flyers as we have been asked to hold a stand and 2 demo's per day in the main arena at Billing this year. And it should give us all a great oppotunity to get the message out there.
Dave Northants
06-03-2009, 04:30 PM
Chris,
given Tonys comments above, this could make this Billing opportunity an even more exciting and rare one. Is there any assistance or national guidance or some sort of 'infopack' to be had on this , or is it purely down to the local group to create and deliver a message?

Yorkshire & Lincolnshire have now received confirmation too.

have replied to your pm Si.
And for the benefit of everyone else........ :D
so thats 3 stands at Driffield.....HY, RNE and a National stand....
HY and RNE will obviously be managed by themselves and I did ask that all three be located in the same area, but we will have to wait and see what transpires there......
We now need staff for the national stand, HY and RNE can supply enough staff between them but I thought that if there were any other groups who may be able or would like to help, then please shout up before we arrange otherwise.
I intend (provided there is no objection) using general public information from these boards to construct a presentation.
Charitable Status.
The groups.
The Quads.
Call outs.
Event support.
Training.
In addition to the above if any groups would like to supply me with any group flyers etc then that would be good too.
(I would also like to be able to display all group logo's)
The one most important item for display will be a map depicting the group area coverage.....we used to have one on the old site but I'm not aware of a current one....can anyone help out here please?
As always, any help or suggestions greatfully accepted....
Nigel.

As no one has yet come forward, I'll take it that there are no members from other groups who are interested in manning the national stand at Driff', there fore the possitions will be staffed equally by Y&L and RNE.

I think the problem lies with the number of shows each year.
I am already committed to Gaydon, Billing and/or Newark, Peterborough and Abingdon with GLASS. And of course the 4x4 Response AGM in June!
I would be happy to lend my support at Driffield but I have to draw the line somewhere or the wife will forget what I look like :D
I will speak to Alasdair about the possibility of getting some national leaflets printed and sent up.
nigel leyland
21-04-2009, 05:40 PM
Not a problem Tony, we fully realise that people can't possibly attend everywhere all the time and being one of the northerly most events on the calander it's a bit of a run for most people which is why we are doing it but at least wanted to offer others the chance "if" they wished to come......obviously we could only wait so long for replies as others where waiting..............The stand will now be staffed by Y&L and RNE personel.
Si and I are working together on this one, I've got the pitch booked and comformation of same, and hope to get our "Event Unit" on the stand, Si is handling the Promo Materials, so if you ensure he gets any materials and info it makes it simpler......
Obviously anything "produced" for Driffield will be usable for Peterbro and other shows later in the year, so should make things a little easier for who ever decides to organise them.
Cheers,
Nigel

We could also do with some promotional material for the Billing show this year.
We have many talented people in our team so if you need any input or printing we will be able to help. I just don't want to re-invent the wheel.
We have Billing confirmed with a very large pitch and main arena demos twice daily, UKOS have confirmed they will be supporting us with vehicles and equipment on the stand and in the arena so it should be a good show!
We have also confirmed we will be running an off road course at "Lamport Classic Car Show" for charity that we will also utalise the material
Tony Ferrari
21-04-2009, 09:45 PM
Chris
Who are UKOS?
Also at Billing are likely to be members of several Response groups manning the GLASS stand.
I will also be at Gaydon in a fortnight, if anyone is there come and say hello on the GLASS stand, the Hertfordshire 4x4 Response banner is usually being flown from my vehicle (see below) :D
Although at Gaydon it will most probably be the Freelander as I still haven't fitted the 90's new fuel pump .... or replaced the seat belts..... and got an MOT (Yeah it's a Land Rover  )
Chris C

UKOS are "United Kingdom Operational Support" they are a blue light service and provide support to Police, Fire & Rescue

No they have been around for a while but they try a keep under the radar as much as possible. A lot of there day to day work is forensic recovery (bodies) and other such like things but in the event of Crisis or disaster they have inflatable morturies and trailers that are fully equiped to keep upto 250 people alive on each one. The main equipment they use are Haglunds and Supercats. But they also have things like sub's and quads also. If you are coming to Billing this year we will be using a Haglund and a Bobcat on the stand and in the arena.
Below is a pic of some of the kit

For those who are going to the show look out for the Network stand you shouldn't miss, it and take a few quid to buy an "I support 4x4 Respone Network" sticker or 2.
Look for the signs.

No Problems Dave.....I ended up so busy it was Sunday evening before I remembered you were due to pop in.....at least I now know I didn't miss you...
Were at the twist off when our member Scott fell off the ramp in the "black Camel"?
We had a gent enquire about Suffork or Sussex ( I've had a drink since I talked to him  ) who left impressed and armed with suitable info....a whole club in the Yorkshire Area took info and.......looks like I'v got a few locals interested too.....
It seems that the word is getting out there amongst the public....I think who ever takes on the P/bro show (and others) may well see plenty of interest.
