At 07.55 Wessex 4x4 Response went to standby at the request of Devon & Somerset Fire Control due to extensive flooding.
At the moment it appears from the news that the "floods" are surface water only and somewhat exagerated by the news.

hi bob,
on my way home last night @ 03:00 hrs, Compton village flooded ( devon ) by flash flood ! regular occurrance.
Roads in and out were a wash out.
small river burst its banks some 600 yds of road was now fast flowing river.
Drove both routes in and out no one stuck/distress, advised local radio station to give out info then went home.
