After the briefest of mentions on the North East News (BBC) weather item.....we have since as a direct result featured on two local radio stations and appeared in five local papers....all within a fortnight!

All good press and gets the name "out there" hopefully raising both public and organisational awarness........ :D

So far we have ....No New Members.......

We have however made contacts with the right people in the local media who now know who we are and what we do.....so next time we actually are involved in something, we just get a more interested response..... :D

What has emerged, from this last weeks is just how important it is to have decent quality, upto date appropriate photographs available "immediately" for inclusion in press releases.

Absolutely and ideally each team will have a "Press Officer" to whom all queries should be directed.

This will ensure a consistent message from the team and also give the press a name /number to call.

Well done 4X4RNE.

Rover Rescue are holding a social/training evening on Wednesday and I am hoping to get a Press Officer formally appointed then.

I am also looking to put together a media pack with a brief rundown of our aims and capabilities as well as photos of members and vehicles on call and during training. This will be available on-line as well as pre-printed and could also be used as an initial handout to any interested user srevice.

Not only the press, Police forces and other Cat1 responders talk to each more than perhaps some realise.

What one team does or doesn't do can quickly travel through the grapevine.

I intend to mention the whole network in our media pack especially as our coverage spills over into north Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire

We try to get the national message in when interviewed but it is often difficult, especially with the tv and radio, as they usually want to get the item finished as soon as you get started! :D

Tell me about it   and then they chop out all the bit you wanted to say and include only the bits that they wanted. At least with live interviews you MIGHT get to say what you want to say.
