Hi all,
Those who were at the meeting in June will recall that we agreed to meet at the same place in 2009
Back in July I sent an E-mail to Avalanch Adventure (http://avalancheadventure.co.uk/) asking "Could we therefore book the site from the midday on the afternoon of Friday 19th June to the midday on morning of Monday 22nd June".
We are now getting to the stage where we need to look at numbers likely to attend. IF we have enough attending and hoping that the weather is better than last year, we may be able to book some of the other facilities available on the site.
I would aim to book the off-road course for at least the Saturday & Sunday.
Possibly also Quad Safari, Amphibious Buggy driving, Clay Pigeon shooting, Blindfold driving, etc if there is enough interest.
Could I ask that you post below if interested, we would look to have a deposit (probably by Feb) then full payment some 6 weeks prior to the date.
Those who are likely to attend are
Myself (Wessex)
Nigel Leyland (4x4RNE)
Pete Willis (Wessex)
Chris Chandler (Northants 4x4 Response)
Paul Dyer (Wessex 4x4 Response)

What are the costs associated with this event?

15-12-2008, 05:43 PM
You can put me down as a provisional to attend Bob, and I'll see how much interest there is from the NE Mob.....
Hopefully with this time with plenty of notice there should be a really good turnout........ :D
( And don't forget the media coverage Bob  )
Nigel.
( Pasted and copied to 4x4RNE forum, so they're getting plenty of notice :D )

hi bob put me down hopefully i will get there this year !!!!!
BobWessex
15-12-2008, 08:31 PM
Mark,
The costs will depend on numbers attending, last year was £5 per night plus hire of the off road costs other costs are as per their website.
Realistically I would think depending on what people want between £30 & £40 per unit for the weekend. The higher the numbers the lower the price.
Chris C
15-12-2008, 10:36 PM
Put me down and I will post on our forum as we are local........ do you have a restriction on numbers?
BobWessex
15-12-2008, 10:44 PM
not at all, The actual AGM will only take up a couple of hours the rest of the weekend is designed for chat and "networking"

Hi all
This is now confirmed as booked from the afternoon of Friday 19th June to the morning of Monday 22nd June with sole use of the offroad course on Saturday and Sunday.
Cost based on those who say that they are likely to attend is £40 for the weekend including overnight camping per vehicle/camping unit, (i.e. you can bring the family for free) so long as you come in one vehicle & caravan/tent.
One night's camping and/or one day's use of the course is £20.
The normal charge for an individual would be £25 per day for use of the off-road course alone so there is roughly a 30% saving on individual prices for the weekend.
All 4x4 Response team members are welcome to attend the weekend but payment is required in advance.
Please forward cheques to

Hi Phil,
The actual AGM will be on the Sunday afternoon, HOWEVER I hope that members will take the opportunity to have fun on the site over the weekend and generally NETWORK (posh speak for get drunk together)
Can we have a more detailed time for the actual AGM please. The implied reatively late start to proceedings is putting some of us with children off. By the time the meeting is over and we get away get home etc its going to mess up bed time etc. To be perfectly honest if it was going to be afternoon then saturday would have been a better day I think, then people could have stayed over, taking monday off sn't an option for some of us I'm afraid.
If we could set te start tim for 1.30pm or 2pm at the latest then that would probably help.
Thanks
Simon

It does Si if.......
A. you have to take the kids....
B. you have limited hours to get the caravan in and out of storage....
C. you work in the education industry.....
D. you have a long way to drive....
I'm fortunate in that A doesn't affect me and I can work around B,C and D......but it doesn't matter where you have it or when.....someone is going to have problems attending!
I Would have thought holding the AGM between Saturday eve Sunday morning would facilitate the majority of people.....?
Looking forward to meeting everyone :D

See you all on Saturday after lunch.
Had hoped to get the 90 back on the road but after spending last Sunday fitting a new fuel pump so it does at least run again, I started doing work for the MOT. Fitting new seat belts and getting the windscreen washers working was easy. Then I had a poke around the rear cross member, thinking the rust wasn't too bad.... then realised that it has almost parted company from one of the chassis legs
Of well that's a new cross member then... anybody want to do some welding? :D
So I will be in the Freebie, which will limit my off roading activities but at least I can drive up to Sibbertoft at more than 55mph

Well having tried (and failed) to swap a 200Tdi head gasket at the Gloucester shout - why not - get the bits n fetch it on a trailer - see you tea time on Saturday with the welder :-)
Tony Ferrari
19-06-2009, 08:18 AM
"getting the bits" would be a problem...
That's a new cross member, a vehicle trailer and a tow bar for the Freebie (and fit it) all by tomorrow lunch time.....
Maybe not :D

I dunno - I was rising to the challenge to weld it on - you are just giving in easily! ;-)
I had to get my pto genny running too to do that which has not really been reinstalled yet... (assuming there is no electric hook up...)
Anyway you don't need the towbar for the freebie - it aint man enough for the job - you need a friend with a big 4x4 ;-)
 :? :o :D
Tony Ferrari
19-06-2009, 01:23 PM
At about 2 tonne for the 90 (plus the weight of a trailer) the 1800Kg towing limit of a 1.8 Freebie could be a bit of a limitation ;)
