Fairly sure that Karl Bainbridge WE83 will be, I have just dropped him an E-mail as it might be worthwhile for the various 4x4R members to get together / chat prior to the event.

yep were on it team 25 , should be a good event , well done on getting in the slots were filled within 2 days this year . and there was a quite a long waiting list , although peter rowland emailed to say there were a few drop outs due to various circumstances , credit crunch being one . so well done and good luck

Theres only been one drop out to date, I was 2nd reserve but 1st dropped out apparently theres been various rumours in the press about a lot of drop outs but todate just the this week. Theres a thread on their forum about it somewhere - might be one of the announcements. TBH i was beginning to think I wouldn't get a run until the very last minute and didn't really fancy just 2 weeks notice or similar.

Anyone done it before or are you newbies like me.

I'm in as well, Team 6, with my Driver from last year - Colin Argent.

Last year we did it in a 90 as 1st timers & ended up somewhere in the top 20, but the result is irrelevant. The cause & the taking part is what it's all about.

This year we're planning on the comfortable route with my Landcruiser.

The ideal vehicle is something that you can grab a few hours sleep in. A 90 is not good for sleeping. A challenge truck is even worse. A team last year had a fully kitted truck. They were in pain by then end, althought they did come 2nd. Maybe it's because they didnt get drowsey as they were too uncomfortable?

A 90 is not good for sleeping.

Who says? Mine is pretty comfy :D

Mind you the co-driver has to sleep on the roof rack

Been thinking whilst we don't know where we're going and we're not allowed to have any sort of pre arrange assistance in the event of breakdown etc it might be worth us having a list of other response group contacts should the worse happen and we do need a part finding etc etc.

Any one willing to be called in the event of a catastrophy for one of the response crew competitors if you PM me your details I'll compile a list to give to the other response memebr competitors.

I wouldnt worry too much. dropouts are rare & usually someone will have the bit you need.

Last year one of our vehicles died on the way to the start, they mananged to make it to a LR garage who, when told what they were up to, dropped everything & fixed it at very little charge. Another one broke a gearbox on the way & they went home aa (to norfolk) picked up another motor & came back, they started about 12 hrs late but they still got to take part.

Our club (www.bhclrc.co.uk (http://www.bhclrc.co.uk)) has a few teams in so anything with our badge on will be fairly sociable. Look out for Jason or me. We should be easy to spot as will will both be in leather clad luxurious LandCruisers

oh and by the way if anyone would be kind enough to sponsor us the please do every thing we make goes to macmillian and we thank you for what ever you can spare

Cant have them Bulldogs blagging all the sponsorship...

If you happen to find any loose change, or even the odd wad of twenties down the back of the sofa you could sponsor me for 36 hrs of sleeplessness & gettting lost in some very cold places. Maybe if we go to Ireland again we will have to face being chased by suicide dogs again.

All and any contributions greatfully received
