As part of the ongoing investigation into incident 23, The Team along with our SAR colleagues from DSRT (OKEHAMPTON), Cornwall SRT, SARDA and Police search teams were today recalled to Launceston to carry out a search of new areas that had been identified.
The search areas which were mainly on the outskirts of Launceston had been selected following ongoing enquiries by the local constabulary into the case of Charles Barkwill. Mr Barkwill was last seen in the town centre on 6th June 08. Following exhaustive searches of the new areas the team was finally stood down at 1900hrs after nearly 9 hours of searching with nothing found.
We were also joined by WESSEX 4x4 RESPONSE who provided a transport support role and enabled search teams to be deployed quickly and efficiently to the areas. This was the first time that we have worked with this volunteer group but we look forward to it being the start of another new working relationship for us.
With over 70 searchers on the ground and other support and control roles being carried out in the search management cell it truly was a huge tasking into this incident and goes to show once again the committed and dedicated approach to missing persons in the south west.
