Rover Rescue will be supplying 6 vehicles in support of St Johns Ambulance at the 10k Run for Cancer Research at Sandringham on Saturday and Sunday 26th/27th September. We will be providing transport and communications.

This is the 4th year we have supported the Run as well as supporting the 5k Run at Houghton Hall in July.

I will try and get another photo of my landy on the lawn in front of Sandringham House

3 vehicles were deployed to assist in setting out the course and placing off-site signs on Saturday.

8 vehicles were deployed to support the Marshalls and St John’s Ambulance personel on the Sunday.

Fortunately there were no problems after last years fatality on the finish line. The organisers definitely carried out a CYA procedure this time. There was a private firm of Paramedics with 6 paramedics, an ambulance and 4x4 vehicle, St John’s with 3 mobile First Aid Stations, an Air-Shelta, about 12 personel and 2 Doctors, a private comms firm providing comms for the organisers, RAYNET and ourselves. Still plenty of opportunity to network!!

Report from Sandringham Cancer Research 10KM Run Sunday 27th Sep 2009

Written by Group Controller

Sunday, 27 September 2009

Thank you to the members that turned out to help provide first aid and safety communications cover at this event on a warm September day! A 2m net was run without any issue across to hand held operators located at strategic first aid points.

We also worked with several Rover Rescue members that are also licensed - and indeed some also Raynet members! This proved most useful and it is hoped more of the Rover Rescue team will be suitably equipped in the future which makes operational logistics a lot easier. It is events such as these where the voluntary agencies are working together so well that stands us in a good state to assist in times of emergency where operational protocol has already been established.

It shows the value of attending this type of event to spread the word.

The Organisers were also very appreciative of our turnout.
