Over the last two days some 25 members of staff from my employer have walked 30 miles across Somerset to raise funds for the Everyman Cancer appeal. The walk started yesterday with a break mid-way enabling us to enjoy a barbecue and have a beer (or three), finishing today just after midday

As there are three of us from the company involved with Wessex 4x4 Response we offered to provide the support / safety vehicles. So once again the ISU was brought into play. Some 8 members gave up their time which was much appreciated by all the walkers.

JP from Yorks & Lincs recently asked to see more, of how the ISU is equipped.

The photo below may prove useful to anyone thinking of setting one up -- you'll notice that we keep it fairly simple.

Most of the boxes in the image were only there for this particular event BUT we do keep the Gazebo and a number of collapsible tables on board so that crews have some sort of shelter, with the Gazebo deployed we have roughly 150% more space.

Fairly obviously those items on the shelf/worktop are stowed in transit, the handsets are normally kept at home and fully charged.

So where is this ISU located? Do you have anything mobile?

Yeap it's about an hour to 90 minutes from any point in our area,

It's stored at a Police Station as part of our Service Level Agreement -- or if you prefer "We help them, they help us".

Hmmm, something to look into. Might have the perfect thing coming though. Another member of our group is getting a 101 ambulance this month (no I'm not jealous! ). Still original but I dare say it could be kitted out as mobile control.
