Sept 25th saw around ten units deployed for marshalling duties at Sunderland for the "starlight stroll" in aid of St Oswalds hospice, a charity which we support regularly. The event started and finished at the home of Sunderland Football Club the Stadium of Light.
Sept 26th/27th saw an early hour convoy some 40 miles south with caravans in tow to arrive at Scorton in North Yorkshire (near Catterick) to pitch up and grab a few hours sleep before supporting the North Yorkshire Agricultural Society annual show. Over the weekend more units arrived from as far away as Blackpool and Kielder to participate and a very busy and wide range of events at the show which included.....
Show stand, event unit and display perminantly manned.
Arena parades with commentary providing information on vehicles/owners and the role of the RNE and N4x4RN.
Off Road Driving Display at Tarmac's Gravel Quarry on purpose built course.
Marshalling of antique vehicles road run.
additionally.....we were called into action to ensure clear and rapid access and exit to and from the showground for an ambulance due to an unfortunate medical emmergency and also to assist after an accident involveing two extremely large show wagons.
We were asked to attend this show at rather short notice and were more than happy to assist, initial feedback suggests we will be asked to provide support again next year.
