I've just had word that a RAYNET callout is '99% likely' due to the imminent collapse of the Calva bridge in Workington Cumbria - the collapse will take with it the main telephone lines.

I have contacted the RAYNET response coordinator for that zone and made him aware of 4x4 Response in case he feels he needs logistics support. Their primary mission will be to provide a temporary comms facilities for members of the public to make 999 calls.

Does anyone have a contact number for North West 4x4 Response so I can get them in touch with each other directly? Can't find one on their website.

Guys, can you keep us informed as to whether you get a standby or call-out?

I have spoken to Andy from Raynet Yorkshire and it's unlikely that we will be required. He now has my contact details and will call if necessary.

So...........althought NW have not yet recieved a callout..........or even a standby........

A line of communication has been established for future possible use.....and probably a few more contacts are now in the know regarding NW's existance....excellent! That as they say is the way to do it. :D

There'll be a damn sight more people who know of our existence in the next week or so. I had a phone interview with the Westmoreland Gazzette with a view to getting a feature in the paper so we can A) get more members form Cumbria and B) promote our existence.

And as soon as you do actually get that first call...........either, no one will know about it or you'll have everyone and his dog on your doorstep...... :D
