Royal Recognition for 4x4 Response

We are delighted to be able to announce that we have been invited to represent Norfolk & Suffolk 4x4 Response at a Reception being hosted by Her Majesty the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh in the grounds of Sandringham House, as a part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
Following on from communications last year from the Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk, we have now received a Royal Invitation to the Diamond Jubilee Garden Party at Sandringham on Tuesday 12th June 2012.
The Palace had made it clear that Her Majesty had requested the attendance of representatives of organisations that serve the community in Norfolk and Suffolk, and the Lord-Lieutenant had been asked to assist with the invitation list.
As you might imagine, we are thrilled at our good fortune in being able to represent 4x4 Response. We are also very aware that we are just representatives of the work and dedication of others that have taken 4x4 Response from a fledgling idea to the nationwide organisation it is today.
So, looks like an afternoon with brass bands and cucumber sandwiches. Might just take a membership form, well, you never know J

Well there is only one picture, of us I am afraid in the car park, taken by the chair of NORLSAR who we went with. It was no cameras or phones in the grounds.
Yes, the cold wind and grey sky's turned to a fresh breeze and sunshine once we arrived.
We saw the Queen from about 20' away, Duke of York was there in place of the Duke of Edinburgh, she walked the crowd very informally. The royal protection guys were facinating seeing them in action, 'men with earpieces and discrete bulges' as my partner put it, although I am not certain exactly where she was looking! 4000 guests and yes, we had our cucumber sandwiches.
The Band of the Royal Marines were absolutely superb, we were right at the front and they were really impressive, spot on in every way.
We had total freedom to walk the grounds and gardens, which was nice.
It was a very English afternoon, as only we can do, brass bands and tea in the Queens garden, is there a better way to spend a day?

Glad you had a good day Phil.

I did scrutinise BBC Look East and Anglia TV but I couldn’t see you.

At least I managed to get a photo in the garden when I was there a few years ago :D:D
