The Weather and Flood alerts at the top right of the forum are good, especially the totals that give an 'instant' visual clue to whether things are getting better or worse.

In vBulletin, you can bring this stuff in as RSS into a forum which is also a good way to handle it. On the Gloucestershire & Worcestershire 4x4 Response site (www.gw4x4r.co.uk) we bring it in as a Ticker as well as the Weather alerts which are also available as RSS.
