Default Hello from the East Midlands

Hi All,

Just learned about the 4x4 Response group from good old LRO magazine (get ready for lots more folks like me enquiring).

Thinking of joining the Peak Response Group, when is the next meeting? (apologies if this is mentioned somewhere else). What is the situation regarding insurance if you join 4x4 Response?

Mike

Re: Insurance most employers will accept volunteering as "social and domestic" although some will insist on business cover but this can be only a small additional premium £10 or £20 is typical. We do request that you have confirmed with your insurers that they are happy with you volunteering, if you join Peak they will be able to advise you further.

Most insurers accept we don't do 4x4 response for "hire or reward" as most groups limit fuel reimbursement to the HMRC "not for profit" limit of 45p a mile. Others limit it to actual cost incurred which amounts to the same result i.e, not for profit. If responding for charites or other voluntry groups there may be no reimbursement.

Outside of your vehicle, all groups subscribe to our National Third Party Liability policy so that affords members cover too.
