Unhappy Unread Posts

Because I use one pc at home and another at work, I have to mark as read everything on each pc when I start it. So in the morning, I'll have read everything on my home pc, but at work I have to go through and mark evertying as read.
Then at night, when I get to my home pc, I have to go through and mark everything read that I'd seen during the day at work.

Its pretty frustrating - especially now that there are so many more postings each day

Can we have a button to click so that all postings can be marked as read please?

thank you
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

On the main forum homepage (http://www.4x4response.info/forums.php) there is a button, 'Mark Forums Read', does that do what you are looking for please?

Cheers

Patrick

Ah. at the bottom of the page! never saw it . Maybe it could be moved to the top!

Yes it does what I need.

Would it be possible to add this to the page displayed when one clicks on 'Unread Posts' as well?

thanks
Patrick

Curiously I don't have that problem, whether I have read the posts on my home PC, iPhone or work PC, it sems always up to date and sychronised between the three?

likewise. My bugbear is the email notifications. As I use the quick reply button it defaults to filling my email inbox at 5 past midnight each day.

@Tony: I have the same issue on the SEE forum and others tell me that, like you, they don't have that issue

Alan

You can turn off the email alerts, go to control panel, then "edit options" you have a number of choices under "default thread subscription mode". I have mine set to "do not subscribe".

I only get emails regarding PMs but that too can be turned on/off under "receive email"

I'd looked in settings twice and missed that option both times. {hangs head in shame}

Thanks Tony

two things
(1) I keep harping about marking things as read, but would it be possible to move the 'MArk All Forums read' button to the top of the page rather rtthan down at the bottom.
(2) can we have an unread mail filter at the top of the page. I'm just so used to seeing these on other forums that its a pain to have to scroll around each time

I can only see the "Mark all forums read" button on the main menu page is that correct or should it be on all pages.

But I do have an "unread posts" button at the top (menu at top right)? Which i use all the time.
