West Wales

Last night seen the launch of the West Wales group with 8 new members joining the Wales team and 6 more applications pending under the control of John Askew.

We would like to thank all those that attended and signed up to the group and we hope to get a lot more signed up soon.

Jim (or Mark or Andrew)

Seeing as Global domination is progressing well and I am still on my mission to discover the true coverage of 4x4 Response in the UK, can you confirm what the actual coverage is of Wales 4x4 Response?

Which of the following do you now cover or shortly will be covering? Apart from Powys, i'm never quite sure what areas are actually covered?

Anglesey

Blaenau Gwent

Bridgend

Caerphilly

Cardiff

Carmarthenshire

Ceredigion

Conwy

Denbighshire

Flintshire

Gwyneth

Merthyr Tidfill

Monmouthshire

Neath Port Talbot

Newport

Pembrokeshire

Powys

Rhondda Cynon Taff

Swansea

Torfaen

Vale of Glamorgan

Wrexham

Many thanks

Tony

Tony

I think we have members in all areas not sure about Anglesy though will check with Mark and give you definate coverage.

Even though the M4 corridor from Gwent to Camarthen is covered we are hoping to get a team to take over Cardiff along with existing members in that area.

Hi Jim,

Can you confirm that it is all one team as we currently have it i.e. Wales 4x4 Response?

Cheers mate, I was only wondering because I noticed one or two still have Powys in their signature (Can't remember who at the moment)

So the map could look like this?

Re: West Wales

Hi Guys

The situation is that Wales is one Group but due to geographical size etc. we are allocating members on a regional basis: North, Mid, West and South with a regional co-ordinator for each region. We are also trying to get a regional training co-ordinator and fundraiser within each region so that there is a degree of self sufficiency and to reduce the pressure on the centre - it's starting to come together but is early days. We also need to be aware that there are 4 LRF areas in Wales - North, South, Dyfed Powys (Mid & West) and Gwent so we also allocate each member to an LRF area for control purposes but this may change as the callout arrangements become determined for each area. Within the regions there are also likely to be local Groups as having one pub meet for instance to cover the whole of West Wales is impractical but this will evolve as the regional groups grow.

The focus at the moment for the Group is to continue the recruitment programme to fill in the missing bits of the jigsaw and to get the new members through Responder training as quickly as possible so that they can go onto the callout Register.

Current breakdown is as follows:

Status North Mid South West

Volunteers 8 17 9 8

Responder 12 22 4 5

Grade 3 1 4 0 0

Grade 2 0 0 0 0

Grade 1 0 0 0 0

Total 21 43 13 13

I can provide a list of postcodes if Tony would like to analyse specific locations but at the moment I cannot provide the breakdown by county as I don't have county information for all members.

I hope this helps

Regards

Mark

OOOOPS!

Having frigged around with the spacing etc to get the table right in edit mode it loses it when it writes the post to the forum - hopefully those that are interested can make sense of the table - otherwise pm me and I will send you the data.

Mark

I think you wanted it to look more like this?

I am intrigued as to what the different levels of status mean?

Jim Wallace 27-11-2009 02:46 PM

Re: West Wales

The different status on chart is how much training you want to do with the group starting off as a volunteer then responder after assesment then depending on training you can work up to Grade 1 Responder.

It is up to the individual person how far they want to go with training quite a few may just stay responders others can progress with offroad driving first aid chainsaw use etc.

Re: West Wales

Thanks Jim

Chain Saw's? Yes I can see the potential use but how do the Highway Authorities in Wales look on that? Round here you must have public liability insurance to use one in a public place before they will let you operate on the highway, even in an emergency.

I doubt our policy would cover it at present but it might be worth asking Zurich, as long as the individual operator has the correct ticket and PPE of course.

HI Mark it looks like geographically you have similar problems to ourselves, woking with 3 Police Forces, 4LRFs 4 fire services, 2 Ambulances services etc. none of whom excep Wiltshire Police & Fire Services share common borders

Re: West Wales

Just as a heads up, if you want to do a table, or some other text you want to keep aligned, use the CODE tags like this [ C O D E ] text here [ / C O D E ] (obviously without the spaces!)

Code:

with code

tags              it comes

out

                            just                        as

you  type                    it

in          !!

3 Attachment(s)
Hi Tony - Thanks for fixing my table - wish I could just cut and paste this info from the powerpoint!

Regarding the Grades - we did post the training and development plan on this site sometime ago - I have reposted the attachment but is currently subject to revision, the second page gives an indication of the types of other training that we would accept for credit but we are fairly flexible with this.

Hi Tim

Thanks for the advice regarding code tags - I will try and make the time to have a play around with it.

Regards

Mark

John Askew 16-12-2009 05:27 PM

West Wales Group

Indeed and that is me! ;) :D

Hoping to have a dozen signed up for the start of next year so we can crack on with the new West Wales Group.

No doubt I will have some questions and will need some advice.

I will do a formal intro when I have 5 mins to sit down, and am currently looking to plump for a new larger venue for pub meets.

As a temporary solution this is likely to be in Caio, alongside my GLASS/Laning Club meet for now, with a proposed date of Jan 7th

at 7:30pm. Details and confirmation to follow!

Now time to have a nose around yet another forum........ ;)
