Hi from Dorset

Hey there, just thought I'd introduce myself as I'm new to 4x4 response and the forum.

I'M Kev from Blanford in North Dorset, bit of a weather geek, enjoy a spot of fishing and been green laning/off roading in some form most my life either on 2 wheels or 4. I work for the MOD at present and previous to that a recovery agent for Dorset police.

After the recent purchase of another 4x4 and doing the usual greenlane mods (32inch m/t tires, lift, snorkel, cb radio, recovery equipment) I then came across your stand at a recent show I attended and after having an informative chat with one of the members I then decided it would be great to become involved with such a worthwhile charity and put the Pajero to good use.

So here I am, filled in the online application for Wessex 4x4 response and just waiting to hear back. Looking forward to getting involved in the banter and meeting some like minded enthusiasts :-)

Alan B Wessex 02-08-2012 11:30 AM

Welcome aboard. So once you've put the Pajero to good use, what Land Rover will you be buying? ;)

Adam Cooke 02-08-2012 11:41 AM

Welcome can we ask what show it was you saw a stand, always nice to know what shows work.

Kev Taylor 02-08-2012 12:12 PM

Cheers for the welcome guys, can't wait to get stuck in, just the waiting game now although I see there is an induction course on the 19 of this month, would be nice if I could make it.

Alan, I have enough rust to deal with on the paj thanks and I like my comforts, twin heaters for the winter :-p

Adam it was the Sherbourne Castle car show, hope that helps :-)

Welcome

Kev Taylor 02-08-2012 07:25 PM

Thanks for the welcome, just the waiting game now, although I see Wessex have a induction day on the 19th of this month and would be great to be able to attend.

Alan I've got enough issues with the rust on the paj thanks :-p

Adam the show I attended and found out about Wessex 4x4 response was the Sherbourne Castle classic car show and I was impressed with the stand :-)

Hi Kev

Anne has received your paperwork and you have been put onto our database as a Recruit, so no problem with the 19th. I will add your name to the list for that day.

Regards

Pete Keane
Group Training Manager

Thanks Pete, that's great, will be looking forward to it.

Any one will do, can use it as a trailer behind the Pajero :D

WessexMario 03-08-2012 08:44 PM

Nothing wrong with Pajeros, my previous motor was a Mk2 Pajero, it would go anywhere plus some.
Good to have to have you aboard Kevin, look forward to meeting you at the induction training day.

Andy Harvey 03-08-2012 09:59 PM

Well said Mario.

Kev Taylor 03-08-2012 11:58 PM

Lol cheers guys, I also prefer to have a working heater for the cold winter evenings, well 2 heaters for that matter :-p
I used to have a swb shogun with diff lock and that would go anyware but I'm yet to test out the lsd of the lwb pajero in the sticky stuff, hopefully the 32inch buckshot mudders will make up for the lack of a locker.

Cheers Mario, looking forward to meeting some of the team.

A belated welcome from the South Wilts team.

Kev Taylor 12-08-2012 08:39 PM

Thanks Charles, looking forward to working along side the team sometime.

Welcome Kev - I'm also a new recruit (from Ringwood) so not too far away from you.
I did my introduction session with all the paperwork back at the end of April but I’m still waiting for the police security clearance to become a "real" responder. This Dorset Police Vetting process used to take about one month but with the Olympics in Weymouth it appears to be taking multiple months. I missed all the fun in the IOW so I am hoping to be able to take an active part during the winter.

Kev Taylor 23-08-2012 10:06 PM

Hi Gordon and thanks for the welcome/heads up, I had my induction session last weekend so I'm also just waiting for my CRB, now the Olympics are over hopefully things will start to pick up and get them processed. on the up side, I got my callsign and web access yesterday so that should keep me occupied for a while. like you I just hope I'm operational before the winter.
