Wales currently doesn't CRB check members. I understand that none of our users have asked for it.

Hi Lee,

All groups are autonomous due to the local conditions they work under being somewhat different.

For instance Wessex have all members "vetted" by the police force as they are permitted to use police premises, and there are a few groups, although I'm not sure which off-hand, do have a requirement for a CRB Check.

But for the most part not only are they not required but unless one has a defined need as per the published list then it is in fact illegal under certain acts to aquire or even ask for a CRB check. As for Wales I'm uncertain to the requirements and it may be that a Welsh Responder can answer that specifically for you.

Hope that helps in someway Lee.

(You got the concise reply in while I was typing Graham, cheers)

Graham would be correct, we don't CRB check our voluteers as a matter of course, the agreements we have with the services we support are that if we are required to transport non staff members (be they children or adults) they must be accompanied by a staff member from their organisation.

When we have supported Gwent Police in the past they have run a check on the Responders and their vehicles prior to them being 'activated' and so far none have been refused
