Default Newbie joining MROC Group soon...

Hi all,

Yet another newbie post

Shall be applying to join up locally soon -- no group in Warwickshire right now apparently, but MROC covers us... Just a tiny little old 4x4 but I'm sure I can help out nonetheless...

Thought I should post at least something since registering on the forum!

The national site looks great, and very pleased to see the coordinated network of regional groups throughout the UK.

All the best,
James.

Depending on where you are in Warwickshire, we have a few members in our group too.

Good on you tho, wherever you join.

Hi Stralachlan,

Nice to hear from you. I had a good old look around the map to see what best to do about my location -- I'm North Warks, very close to the point where LE & NH meet, so it looked like GR was quite a bit further away... I assume the group coordinators communicate with one another if the need arises.

Once I've been active for a bit, no doubt I'll have a far better idea anyway!

Cheers,
James.

Cheers Stephen... I did look at West Mids as well -- but thought it might be a stretch for me to reach the furthest Westerly parts of the area... Early days, I've not even submitted my application yet

Shall dip my toe (tyre?) in the water and see what works out best.

I heard a rumour that we can expect snow in October... Then again, it was a some rag quoting long-range forecasters, and since same-day predictions aren't even completely reliable, I shall wait and see when the snow and/or drought arrives this Winter!

Its good that you've looked at the options, and you have to take into account which group fits you best, both in terms of fitting in with the group, ease of attending training & the area covered.

As someone on a border myself I know how difficult it can be to make that choice. Mine came down to having my parents in the middle of the area I chose to join, and knowing I could pitch up there anytime of day to be fed/watered & have somewhere to sleep if necessary!

Thanks, that's good advice. I'll also get a feel over the next week or so for how active the MROC group is, having contacted them for a bit of clarification on a couple of points... Shall be looking to get everything sorted out early in October I think.

Je.

Try attending some of the groups meetings, you don't have to be a member. I'm sure they'll welcome you and you will get an idea of who you fit in with best.

Thanks Robin... I've started to make some contact with car owner groups as well, not sure if every Response group is attached to a 4x4 owner club as well, but continuing my investigations
