Well there is only one picture, of us I am afraid in the car park, taken by the chair of NORLSAR who we went with. It was no cameras or phones in the grounds.
Yes, the cold wind and grey sky's turned to a fresh breeze and sunshine once we arrived.
We saw the Queen from about 20' away, Duke of York was there in place of the Duke of Edinburgh, she walked the crowd very informally. The royal protection guys were facinating seeing them in action, 'men with earpieces and discrete bulges' as my partner put it, although I am not certain exactly where she was looking! 4000 guests and yes, we had our cucumber sandwiches.
The Band of the Royal Marines were absolutely superb, we were right at the front and they were really impressive, spot on in every way.
We had total freedom to walk the grounds and gardens, which was nice.
It was a very English afternoon, as only we can do, brass bands and tea in the Queens garden, is there a better way to spend a day?
